Still life with slide

After a week in the new house we finally made it to our local playground. Despite early misgivings, I had been feeling pretty good about the move as the benefits of quiet, space, and nature are becoming more apparent.

Still life with slide

Misgivings returned. The playground looked like a scene from a Wim Wenders movie: stark, with expanses of blue sky setting off the unused swings that were mysteriously swaying on their own. There were three insular nannies there ignoring their charges; they left soon after we arrived. One other boy showed up for a brief stay later, but that was it.

A beautiful, sunny day and a deserted playground. This is clearly a “daycare” neighborhood. Will I ever meet anyone during the day?

One plus side: Boobaby loved the enormous old wooden structures and 15-foot long swing chains. I’d forgotten such lawsuit magnets still existed!
