The iPod as a Baby Sleep Aid

Well, this is a big duh, of course, but having an MP3 player like an iPod is essential to the task of nighttime awakenings or even naptime. After the routine of sleep — teeth, diaper, changing, and stories — I still rock Boobaby to sleep with a bottle. (Yeah, yeah, I know.)

For her part, Boo will do her best to engage and involve me. Having an iPod with the latest NPR shows, TED talks, or old-time radio detective stories loaded means I can blissfully check out while she does, too.

  1. Don’t you get frustrated that you can only use iTunes?

I found it far too restrictive. It’s like buying a Toyota and only being allowed to use gas from the Toyota garage - or a Hotpoint Washing Machine, but only being allowed to use their own brand of washing powder.

They should open up the spec of the iPod so that you can use any kind of audio format, instead of trying to monopolize the marketplace.

    Just my two cents! :o)

    Peace out x

  2. I guess so. You can get podcasts as MP3s in a variety of ways, and sync them to your iPod pretty easily. Although itunes is just kind of easier for that. It would be nice to be able to purchase content from various sources and use it on the iPod — TV shows that aren’t on itunes, for example. But, alas, we’re a country bought and paid for by corporations — what to do?
