I jump through hoops daily trying to be the “nice dad”… though why I seek the approval of kids who think that the Disney Princesses are the pinnacle of humanity is beyond me.

I agree. I tend to do this as well with my children’s friends. One day I decided not to and it ended with the little boy running home to his mom and calling me mean. Though his mom just laughed I never wanted to be the mean mom.
