I'd be happy to run into anybody at the park. At our neighborhood park, during the day I run into nannies and grannies, none of whom speak english. There is lots of smiling and nodding, snacks have been shared, as have toys. But, it's otherwise not very satisfying. If we go to other parks during the day, we pretty much are alone. Where are all the stay at home parents? Don't they go to parks during the day, like you and me? Are they all going somewhere else and nobody told me?

I'm not around during the weekdays but there does seem to be some extra credit being given to interested and generous fathers on the weekends. Which leads one to wonder about the other fathers and what they are or aren't doing.

@malachy walsh - A lot of them probably do a lot... just behind the scenes. My working wife is great -- she works, for one, but also is way into the kids (just try to stop her) every chance she gets. She just doesn't get the credit I do... and that she deserves.

@mom, again - I'd love to go every day, but with the baby it's just too hard. And when it was just Fern, it was getting a little too easy, I guess... I felt better finding more adventuresome (and more exhausting) spots to visit, like going for a hike.
