Kids are effortlessly, screamingly poetic.
Boobaby asked for "Christmas music" today, by which she means classical music. (That being, of course, because Yuletide is the only time that longhair stuff really gets played around here. I know, we’re stifling her growth.)
Anyway, my wife put on The Nutcracker Suite, to which Boo started spinning and flapping. Then she turned to her and said,
"Mommy, I hear butterflies singing."
Dang, I want to cry now just recalling it. How did this creature possibly come (even in part) from me?

Oh that is one of the most precious things I’ve ever heard of… definitely a quote for the record books.
Adorable!
I know. Made me tear up.
Maybe she has REALLY good hearing?
that is too bloody sweet though.
Isn’t this what the joy of parenting is really about?!??!?! You deal with all the rest and then, the subtle……REWARD!!!!!
These are the moments that drag me through each day and those I cherish the most. Gotta love those “kids!”
Did she finish the thought with “…and, a week later, a hurricane devastated the Gulf Coast”? Because that would be WAY deep.
That is so great!!! Kinda made a tear well up in my eye!! Seriously!! That is a great way to express music!!!
And you are a GREAT dad…and person…so of course she came from part of you!
Have a GREAT holiday!
“Kids are effortlessly, screamingly poetic.”
What a wonderful way to describe kids. That’s almost as good as “Butterflies dancing.”
you didn’t ask, but I’m sharing anyway.
THe other day I found a scrap of paper with a quote from Eva when she was about Boo’s age: “When I smell flowers I feel like I’m flying.”
Hapy Weekend,
