Thanks for the shout-out. It was bad again today, but not quite so bad, I think. She's regressed a little -- she wants to fall asleep with a bottle on my lap. And honestly, I don't care, after that long!

Oh, Ugh, lack of sleep is the WORST. I really feel for you, and know exactly how stressful it can be. I firmly contend that sleep deprivation is the single worst aspect of parenting small children.

Hang in there. Remember, it's only temporary. It's only temporary. It's only temporary.

(I know. That doesn't really help matters any right now. But I thought I'd try.)

Wow, that's hardcore. I read somewhere that humans have a 25-hour day internally, which is why we can get off so easily if we let ourselves. Which I always do myself, I have horrible sleep habits. I guess I'm reaping what I've sewn...

Well, good luck! At least there's late-night blogging!

I have a sleep situation here too. My daughter has decided to reverse her days and nights, resulting in us both staying up all night and sleeping all day. It's a recurring theme, too. I will keep us both up all day, resulting in much crankiness and crying, and we will be on a regular schedule for about a week...then slowly but surely, an hour at a time, she gets off the schedule once more. I'm really at my wits end here. Hopefully Boo doesn't decide to make it an ongoing thing!

Exactly! Last night seemed more or less back to normal, though -- I'm still crossing my fingers and hoping it was a really, really short phase!

one day last week it took cosmo TWO HOURS to fall asleep for a nap. most people would give up, but i could tell he really needed the nap, and didn't want him to think that if he protests long enough, he can just get up. i got so frustrated though. he wasn't crying or anything, just lying there, not sleeping. talking, squirming, etc. i really thought i was going to lose it. i heard my self say, in very strained tone, right in his face "just. go. to. sleep." that really relaxes them, right? luckily, my partner was home, so he went in to try for a while, but it only got worse.

his bed is a futon, and one of us lies down with him 'til he falls asleep, so finally, i went back in and just held him and did not respond to any requests or complaints (covers, no covers, water, no water etc.). he cried, and it was difficult, but then he just suddenly fell asleep. luckily, it was a one off, and it takes 15 min. or less to get him to sleep for naps usually.

i do believe that theory though, about developmental bursts making it harder for them to shut down. sometimes his body just seems to be moving around, of its own accord, and it just takes a long time to relax. hormonal...?

in any case, i feel for ya, and know how frustrating it can be.

I know the feeling, at least from my wife...our little one hasn't been taking good naps, and has been waking up crying at night for no explainable reason. :(

We are going through a phase right now with Lil' Bum not going to sleep easily. I put her down and then wait for her to get up 40 freakin times to ask me something. It is a bit frustrating because I know it is going to effect her being rested the next day and I enjoy a little quite time. I was finally able to let go of the afternoon naps a bit. They got to be too much of a fight so we don't always have one.
I hope she naps for you soon.
