Miss Debbie Green: Thank You XXVI

Posted on November 26th, 2007 in A Month of Thank-Yous

Miss Green was my 7th grade English teacher. She introduced me to The Color Purple way before I was ready for it (although I should have been). She let me take ideas and run with them. She talked to me like a person, which was refreshing — so few teachers do that.

So, for all that,

Thanks, Miss Green!

Miss Green and I kept in touch for a while; she even visited me at college. Unfortunately, she was on her way to a Peace Corps posting and in those pre-email days, we lost touch. It’s kind of tough to get back in touch with someone so generically named, too. I’ve met three other Debbie Greens in my life since then, one of whom is a great friend who was at our wedding. Alas! It’s up to her, I guess.
