SAHDs are very much in the minority so I wouldn’t get too upset over some comments, but to use chosen words like that is sad.

I think it’s cause you’re not “normal”.

Let me explain.

You are a dad who stays at home with his daughter. That makes you weird. “Normal” dads go to work and only spend small amounts of time with their daughters.

So, since you don’t do the normal thing, you’re labeled as “creepy”.

Our culture [our media] pounds it into our heads that something is wrong with a grown man wanting to spend time with little kids.

The people who said such hurtful things to you are just asses.

I’m really sorry that they hurt your feelings. I think what you do rocks…to bad they can’t see your awesomeness like I do.

Yeah, I wouldn’t say they were totally normal. I can’t imagine any situation where I would feel it was ok to call another parent at the playground creepy. It just wouldn’t even enter my mind.

That guy who stared at my daughter on the subway the other day? He was creepy. A dad who engages with children, not so much. Those parents are probably just jealous.
