BlogHer in my town! Um, why are you telling me?

by doodaddy on October 1, 2007

I’ve gotten a whole bunch of e-mails telling me that BlogHer is coming to San Francisco in 2008, which leads me to wonder:

Why tell me?

Not why are y’all ladies coming here, but why tell me about it? As you may have noticed, I’m male. An emotionally complex male, I like to think, but male, all the same.

So… are you hoping I’ll throw some after parties? What gives?

Yer drinkin’ buddy Mike is man enough to whore out his blog with BlogHER ads like the rest of us – you and WM can come hang with a bunch of women for a weekend!

Is it possible that YOU, who feels the sting of being left out by the mommies on the playground are now going to give us all a ration of sugar honey iced tea when we ask you to come play?

MEN. Can’t live with ’em, illegal to chloroform and brainwash ’em.

(Your daily dose of sarcasm brought to you by Camp Sleep is for Losers.)

Finally, someone gets it! All I wanted was to be asked nicely!

So, you really want guys there?

P.S. I bet I slept less than you last night…

Well, I have a friend (badgermama) who actively tried to recruit me to get involved in BlogHer back when it was just getting started; she explained that BlogHer was also–secondarily, of course, though that went unsaid– for pro-female/pro-feminist guys. I’ve never made it to a gathering, so I don’t know how we’d fit in. But I think it’s worth a try…
