Doing chores while hiring a babysitter is a little bit ridiculous. It's so important to have some personal time in order to be able to function as a good parent. You can find a babysitter that will do your chores for you. On mynannycalledinsick.com you can look through baby sitter listings and find a baby sitter who can help clean the house as well.

@Annie~ I know -- sometimes the relations aren't nearly as useful as someone being paid, huh? Especially when you're still in the house; it's like they unconsciously still consider you in charge, even if they've offered to help out.

@rachel~ Thanks for the site! I'm pretty happy with who we've got, but she's just here for the summer, so I might look into it later.

@cryitout~ Believe it or not, doing chores during the day is completely, completely relaxing to me. I know -- I'm weird that way. "An empty laundry basket is a lovesome thing, God wot..."

Downside? I'd say doing chores while she's there IS the downside. Go out. Get a coffee. Chat! It's unbelievable.

Personally, I believe that hiring a good affordable baby sitter who you can trust is most important. I know of a great website that allows you to look through a list of sitter profiles in your geographical area and allows you to find a babysitter that fits your needs. The address is www.mynannycalledinsick.com

Sounds great! We have live in babysitters for 5 weeks (my sister in law and her fiance) and I thought I'd get LOADS done while they are here - but sadly they don't rise out of their bed until after lunchtime and anything I need done is done, or isn't going to get done because I'm too pissed off to do it! (should have done my own blog post about this ha ha!)

Enjoy the babysitter - and all the catching up on chores you get done while she's there!
